SECTOR alert

Do you hear that? It is the air raid siren (luchtalarm) and that means we have a brand new SECTOR article ready for you to read. After an agreement with the government, we are assured that a new SECTOR article will be announced by air raid sirens across The Netherlands. Next to our main articles, we would like to introduce you to our monthly blog called “The Red Thread”, where each of us writes about their own subject. Moreover, the blog will also include a guest writer, writing about their personal interest. We are very excited about this year and we hope you will enjoy our articles. But first, let us introduce ourselves and the topics.

Hi everyone, I’m Anne and I’m the chairman of this year's SECTOR committee. After doing a board year at Kraket, I’m now studying again. So you can spot me at all the Quantitative Logistics lectures. In my free time, I enjoy kickboxing and I like to run. That’s why I (and almost the whole committee) did the “Dam-tot-Dam loop”. Furthermore, I like to watch movies and series. I can be totally absorbed in it and forget about time. That’s why I’m the perfect person to tell you about the latest updates around films and series this year. My goal for this year is to tell you about all different genres and not only my personal favorite, the romcoms.

Then I would also like to introduce myself. I’m Lisanne, 21 years old and currently living in Amsterdam. Two weeks ago, I received my bachelor's degree, which means that I will now continue with my master's degree. I am following the Quantitative Logistics track, but unlike Anne, I don’t attend all lectures. This is because I work three days a week at Performation in Zeist. I’m a support consultant there, working in a small but friendly team that works on a tool that creates schedules for hospital staff.

Since it is quite a bit of traveling, I like to do puzzles in a puzzle book during that time. And not the well-known crossword puzzles and Swedish puzzles, but the book with the logic puzzles. I am not very good at the first one, as my vocabulary and general knowledge aren’t the best. This brings me to the topic for my monthly section. Every month, I’ll discuss something I’ve learned over the past few weeks. I’m really curious to see what this will be and how I’ll expand my general knowledge.

You might still know me from the bi-weekly Kraket newsletters from two years ago (as I suppose the people who read those are the same people who read the SECTOR). I’m Cemre, former Kraket secretary, current SECTOR committee member and I am also pursuing my masters at the VU. Just like (almost) all of the rest of this committee, I am also racing through the Quantitative Logistics masters track. Speaking of racing tracks, that brings me to my part of “The Red Thread”. Every month I will be writing about the two sports I closely follow, Formula 1 and Darts. It will be fittingly called “The RedBullsEye”, where I will provide my (completely unbiased) analysis of the last month and make some predictions for the upcoming month.

My name is Jochem, and I recently graduated with a Master's Degree in Econometrics this past August. I am excited to bring a new perspective to this committee as a recent graduate transitioning into the professional world. Outside of my academic pursuits, I have a keen interest in current affairs, particularly national and international politics. I find the complex dynamics shaping global events both fascinating and impactful, especially given the significant influence political decisions have on economic trends and financial markets. I aim to provide regular updates on global political developments and their potential consequences, helping to inform strategic decisions within our field.

Hi all, my name is Lotte. You might know me as a former Chairwoman, Lotteleert or just that hyperactive, always laughing girl who comes by the Kraket room every once in a while. Lately I have been very busy with various things: my Master’s degree, my socials and my job at KLM. Juggling all this has been a challenge, but good planning always gets me where I want to go. It is also nice that I really love what I am doing each day, since I love studying, airplanes and social media. I have formed my life around it in a way and with this committee, I am excited to take on another interest of mine: writing. Whenever you enter a book shop, be sure to go fetch a book that is dark green with golden letters that starts with the word ‘Nooit’ and rhymes with ‘zodoende’. It does cost some money though, so be sure to enjoy my writing here as well, since I am writing for free for the SECTOR of our beloved association.
