ISMP 2027
ISMP 2027
Dear Master thesis students,
We have some very exciting news to share with you. Next July (25 to 30), the International Symposium on Mathematical Programming will happen here in Amsterdam! This is a triennial conference that takes place all over the world, from Berlin to Pittsburgh and Bordeaux to Montreal. It is the flagship conference of the worldwide mathematical optimization community. Almost 4 years ago, dozens of researchers in mathematical optimization from all Dutch universities started organizing this. We expect 1500 to 2000 researchers from all branches of mathematical optimization to come to Amsterdam - a unique opportunity!
This might be interesting for you to join, too! You will get 5 days of plenary, semi-plenary and contributed talks and an extensive social program. With roughly 30 parallel sessions, there is always some very interesting talk going on. You can check the website at https://ismp2027.mathopt.nl/.
While we did our best to get the registration fee as low as possible, it will still be quite high (several hundred euros) because it costs an unbelievable amount of money to organize all of this. However, you can join for free and also join the conference dinner in ARTIS for free if you decide to help out a bit during the conference! We are currently looking for (student) volunteers to help out with session room support, registration and information desk support, participant guidance and wayfinding, conference preparation, and social events and other conference activities. This is a great opportunity to join this amazing opportunity for free! You can find all information in the attached file and sign up at info@ismp2027.mathopt.nl. Please do not hesitate to reach out to Tim Oosterwijk (t.oosterwijk@vu.nl) if you have any additional questions. The conference will take place after the final thesis seminar of this academic year, so no worries about that either.
BTW, earlier that month, also the International Conference on Industrial and Applied Mathematics will take place in The Hague, see https://iciam2027.org/. In fact, throughout July, there will be many mathematical events happening in the area because of these two large conferences!
Feel free to spread this information to other students in areas related to mathematical optimization! :)
Cheers,
Tim Oosterwijk
