Kraket is the study association for Econometrics and Operational Research at the VU. Kraket was founded on 14 July 1972 and the name Kraket stands for 'Critical Actuaries and Econometrists'. The vast majority of econometrics students are members of the association and there is every reason to do so. In our room (HG-8A-30) you can buy books every day between 10 am and 4:30 pm, ask questions, work or just come by.
Kraket unites students and business through case days, in-house days and the annual LED (National Econometristers Day), where members can get in touch with companies and orient themselves on the labor market.
Furthermore, a study trip abroad is organized once every two years. In 2019 a group of students will travel to Marrakesh and Casablanca, where they will visit several companies, a university and the Dutch embassy and of course explore the city. Previous study trips, among others, went to Lisbon, Madrid, Istanbul, Tokyo, New York and Atlanta, Hong Kong and Brazil.
The printing press is also running at full speed at Kraket. The SECTOR magazine is published twice a year. In this formal magazine you will find a lot of information about companies. Every edition contains company interviews, columns and various articles from companies, teachers and other guest writers. In addition, an edition of the Ecotribune will be published every quarter. In this informal newspaper, extensive reports of the organized activities are presented.
Of course, Kraket also organizes relaxing activities. Think of the Sinterklaas celebration, lasergaming and a number of drinks and parties, but Kraket is also very sporty. Sports like football, pool, skating and squash are regularly discussed. At the end of the year the board organizes a weekend trip to a location unknown to the members. During that weekend, the Kraketweekend, you get to know people from other academic years in a relaxing way.
